Beyond the Scale

Health Benefits Beyond Weight Loss

GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 therapy can support your overall health in ways that go beyond weight loss alone.

  • May decrease the risk of heart attack by up to 20%
  • May decrease the risk of stroke
  • Lowers blood sugar and blood pressure, and improves metabolic health
  • Improves inflammation
  • FDA-approved for obstructive sleep apnea
  • Improves sexual health
  • May improve alcohol craving and dependence
Please note: Individual results and benefits vary. Not every benefit applies to every medication or every patient; your provider will review what applies to you.

Our Approach

What Makes Our Program Different

We believe safe, effective weight loss starts with understanding your whole health picture, not just prescribing a medication. That's what sets our program apart.

A Thorough Provider Consultation

Before recommending any treatment, your provider conducts a comprehensive consultation and carefully reviews all contraindications to ensure a medication is safe and appropriate for you.

Lab Work Before You Begin

We order blood work before starting your weight loss program to rule out underlying medical conditions, such as thyroid disorders, hormonal imbalances, or metabolic issues, that can cause weight gain or make it harder to lose weight. Identifying and addressing these factors first sets you up for better, more lasting results.

A Personalized, Medically Sound Plan

With a complete picture of your health, we create a treatment plan tailored specifically to you, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

How It Works

The BioAesthetics MD Protocol

  • A private consultation reviews your health history, goals, and candidacy for GLP-1 therapy.
  • Your physician builds a personalized Wegovy®, Zepbound®, or Mounjaro® protocol, never a generic, fixed dose.
  • Ongoing physician supervision adjusts your plan as your body responds, for safe, lasting progress.

The Medications

How These Medications Work

Wegovy®, Zepbound®, and Mounjaro® are once-weekly injectable medications that help regulate appetite and food intake, helping you feel fuller sooner and longer. They're prescribed as part of a comprehensive program that includes medical supervision and ongoing support.

Comparing Options

Wegovy, Zepbound & Mounjaro: What's the Difference?

While all three medications support weight loss, they work through slightly different mechanisms:

Wegovy® (semaglutide)

  • Contains semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist
  • Mimics a single gut hormone (GLP-1) that regulates appetite and blood sugar
  • FDA-approved for chronic weight management
  • Administered as a once-weekly injection

Zepbound® (tirzepatide)

  • Contains tirzepatide, a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist
  • Targets two gut hormones (GIP and GLP-1), which may enhance appetite regulation
  • FDA-approved for chronic weight management
  • Administered as a once-weekly injection

Mounjaro® (tirzepatide)

  • Contains the same tirzepatide as Zepbound®, a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist
  • Targets two gut hormones (GIP and GLP-1), which may enhance appetite regulation
  • FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes; used here as part of your weight loss protocol
  • Administered as a once-weekly injection

In clinical studies, these medications produced significant weight loss. Because they work differently and each person responds differently, your provider will help determine which is the better fit based on your health history, goals, and other factors.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We order lab work before you begin the program to rule out underlying medical conditions, such as thyroid or hormonal issues, that can contribute to weight gain or make weight loss more difficult. This helps us create a safer, more effective, personalized plan.

Results vary from person to person. In clinical studies, these medications produced significant weight loss when combined with lifestyle changes. Your provider will set realistic expectations based on your individual situation.

Wegovy®, Zepbound®, and Mounjaro® are all self-administered as a once-weekly injection. We'll teach you exactly how to use them safely and comfortably.

The most common side effects are gastrointestinal, including nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and vomiting, and are often mild and temporary as your body adjusts. Your provider will start you at a low dose and increase gradually to minimize side effects. Serious side effects are less common; we'll review these with you fully before you begin.

GLP-1 medications are intended for long-term, chronic weight management. Many people regain weight after stopping, so these medications are most effective as part of an ongoing plan. Your provider will discuss a long-term strategy with you.

Yes. These medications work best alongside healthy eating and regular physical activity. Our program includes guidance to help you build sustainable habits.

Absolutely. Every step, from your initial evaluation through ongoing dose adjustments and check-ins, is overseen by our medical team.

Cost and insurance coverage vary. Coverage for weight loss medications depends on your specific plan. New patients starting Zepbound®, Mounjaro®, or Wegovy® receive their first month of medication free, 50% off month two, and 25% off month three. We'll go over pricing and any available options during your consultation.
